Warning: WordPress + Cloudflare + Wordfence = Trouble
If you’ve got a WordPress site and you’re worried about security, there is a good chance you’re using the popular Wordfence plugin. If you’re aiming for good performance and threat protection, you might also be using Cloudflare. If you’re not careful, these two services combined will cause your site to block Google crawlers and prevent them from indexing your site. This means that your website will not appear in Google search results.
The problem is that Wordfence will begin checking the IP address of every visitor that comes in but since you’re behind a reverse proxy (Cloudflare), every visitor including googlebots will be seen as coming from Cloudflare.
