Resolved: DNS / DHCP Upgrade and Migration

During the overnight window of Thursday May 23rd – Friday May 24th, TNS will be undertaking an effort that will replace the current DNS and DHCP servers. Beginning at 11:00PM, the DNS servers will be replaced one at a time. During the course of the night, users may experience individual DNS servers that are unavailable, however the other servers will be up and available. Properly configured clients (with more than one DNS Server defined) may see delays during this time, but should then fail over to the redundant servers.

Begining 4:00 AM, the DHCP servers will be replaced. During the time of the server swap, all DHCP will be unavailable. This will cause an outage to the Penn State Wireless network. VoIP phones and Residence Halls are expected to function normally throughout the downtime.

All services are anticipated to be fully operational by 7:00AM Friday morning.
