PASS CIFS Gateway (win.pass.psu.edu) access problem

Since the new version of Samba software was deployed this morning as described in http://alerts.its.psu.edu/alert-4047, ITS has received multiple reports of users receiving “Access is denied” and similar errors preventing access to some areas of PASS. This affects access to PASS via the win.pass.psu.edu, smb.pass.psu.edu, etc. SMB/CIFS gateway servers for some users.

While a solution is sought, users and IT support who witness trouble are encouraged to file detailed reports in order to help ITS troubleshoot and use alternative methods to reach PASS during the interim, such as the PASS Explorer, https://explorer.pass.psu.edu, and Secure FTP gateway, sftp.pass.psu.edu.
