LDAP Directory Software Update

On Wednesday, March 16 and 17, between 5:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m., Information Technology Services (ITS) will perform maintenance on the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) servers, which provide the Penn State Directory service. This work is being performed to update software on those servers. This software change should be transparent for customers using the Penn State Directory for services.  A portion of the servers will be updated on Wednesday, and the remainder on Thursday.  Each server’s LDAP service should experience an outage of less than two minutes. Load-balanced services including both ldap.psu.edu and dirapps.aset.psu.edu will remain available during the update.

Update services, like the following, will not be available from 5:00 a.m. to 5:02 a.m. on Wednesday.
If you have trouble using a service which updates LDAP during this timeframe, please re-attempt your change again.

– Add/Change Other Directory Information and Start/Stop Vacation Auto-Reply, https://www.work.psu.edu/
– Group creation and changes via the User Managed Groups (UMGs) interface, https://umg.its.psu.edu/
– The Student Organizations Server Administrative interface, https://admin.clubs.psu.edu/

This change is being tracked in Service Now (CHG0035737).
