LDAP Directory Service Maintenance

On Tuesday, June 16, 2015, between 12:01 a.m. – 7:00 a.m., Information Technology Services (ITS) will perform maintenance on the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) servers, which provide the Penn State Directory service. This work is being performed to implement new software on those servers. This software change should be transparent for customers using the Penn State Directory for services.

The Directory will continue to be available in read-only access mode during the scheduled maintenance time (this includes both ldap.psu.edu and dirapps.aset.psu.edu). During this timeframe, several of the server’s update-oriented services will be disabled; however, users will still be able to perform directory lookups via http://www.psu.edu/directory/. In addition, other directory-dependent services such as e-mail services, Penn State Access Account Storage Space (PASS), calendaring, and a variety of University-wide web services will not be affected during this maintenance time.

Directory-related services that will be disabled during the maintenance timeframe include:
– Add/Change Other Directory Information and Start/Stop Vacation Auto-Reply, https://www.work.psu.edu/
– Group creation and changes via the User Managed Groups (UMGs) interface, https://umg.its.psu.edu/
– The Student Organizations Server Administrative interface, https://admin.clubs.psu.edu/
