ServiceNow Release Provides Enhancements to Service Management Tool
On Wednesday, April 22, 2015, the Service Management Office will release an update to ServiceNow, the tool that powers the portal through which the Penn State community can submit help requests to the IT Service Desk.
The release will occur between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. EST and will provide enhancements to how the existing service management processes are carried out in the tool, as well as implement several overarching fixes that are a part of ServiceNow’s Fuji release.
The enhancements will include an updated user interface, improved accessibility, added tools for IT staff working with the service catalog and project portfolio processes, and additional fixes for how the incident and change management processes are enacted in the tool. Additionally, users will now be able to log in directly to both ServiceNow and the Penn State Service Management Portal using WebAccess without having to go through an additional, external login screen.
To see a full list and description of all of the enhancements included in this release, users can refer to the Release Notes section on the home page of the Service Management Office website at http://smo.psu.edu/.
While this upgrade is not expected to cause any service disruption or degradation, in the case of a service interruption, users can still request help from the IT Service Desk by phone at (814)865-4357.
