Costa Rica has become one of the go-to destinations in recent times and it is easy to see why. The year round warm temperatures attract sun seekers, but if too much sun is not for you, the temperatures are often cooled down with refreshing bursts of rain.
The busiest time of year for people visiting Costa Rica is in the December to May period during the dry season, where showers are at there least. But, you should consider visiting from May to November to truly experience the climate Costa Rica has to offer, and it will be less busy which makes it more enjoyable. So, what are the other reasons why you should visit Costa Rica?
The People
The men in Costa Rica are referred to as “Ticos”, and the women are called “Ticas”. Many believe Costa Ricans are some of the happiest people in the world, in part due to their pursuit of a “pura vida” (pure life) lifestyle, which makes them quite relaxed. You will find the people of Costa Rica to be friendly and open, as well as curious. They are certainly not afraid to open their homes to travelers and new friends. If you do make a new friend while you are there, you will most likely be friends for life!

The Forests
If you decide to visit Costa Rica, make sure you are ready to experience some of the incredible forests that the country has to offer. They will remind you of the forests you’ve seen on Jurassic Park! The forests often have long hanging vines with massive leaves, coupled with a misty atmosphere makes them inviting to explore.
We would recommend that you take a walk through the rainforests and cloudforests, and you will most likely come across a wild array of wildlife you never thought you’d ever see. We would recommend that you enlist the help of a guide while you walk, so they can point out some of the hidden gems that you wouldn’t be able to spot.
And Of Course, The Wildlife…
Costa Rica is home to some truly incredible wildlife. You will certainly come across a few sloths if you take our advice and walk through the forests, as well as monkeys and birds galore.
You will also notice that there are a lot of interesting reptiles and amphibians to be seen. Be careful, there are both non-venomous and venomous snakes! The best chance of seeing snakes is to do a night hike in the forests – if you are brave enough! You may even come across one of the rarest sights in Costa Rica – the “glass frog”. The skin of the “glass frog” is so clear, it is possible to see the internal organs inside its body!
