Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Hardware Upgrade – March 19, 2014

On Wednesday, March 19, 2014, Information Technology Services (ITS) will upgrade hardware for the distributed file backup service, Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM), affecting the following servers:

backup.aset.psu.edu
saverestore.its.psu.edu
tsm.offsite.psu.edu
knox.its.psu.edu
steward.its.psu.edu

Maintenance is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. and will conclude by 3:00 p.m. During this time the 5 TSM servers listed above will not be available for backing up or restoring files.

Maintenance will occur outside the regularly scheduled maintenance window because file backup logs indicate the lowest amount of TSM usage occurs between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., so the hardware upgrade will cause the least amount of disruption to the user community at that time.
