PASS CIFS Gateway Configuration Change

On Wednesday, May 2, 2012, during the regularly scheduled maintenance window (5:00-7:00 a.m.), Information Technology Services (ITS) will apply a minor configuration change to the PASS CIFS Gateway.

Users reach the PASS CIFS Gateway via win.pass.psu.edu, smb.pass.psu.edu, cifs.pass.psu.edu and others. The change will proactively correct a potential security problem. During the maintenance window, there may be a brief outage that should last no more than a few minutes. Most users should not see any changes in experience after the update has been applied.
