FBI investigating possible Trump-Russia collusion, dismisses wiretap allegations
Federal law enforcement authorities are actively investigating the potential ties between President Trump’s campaign and Russian operatives, including the widespread hacking operations that Russia’s government allegedly undertook in a bid to meddle in the 2016 election, FBI Director James Comey told members of Congress yester.
In testimony before the House Intelligence Committee, Comey also said that he has no evidence to support the allegations that the president recently made via Twitter accusing former President Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower.
“I have no information that supports those tweets, and we have looked carefully inside the FBI,” Comey said. “The Department of Justice has asked me to share with you that the answer is the same for the Department of Justice and all its components. The department has no information that supports those tweets.”
