Why you should listen to your customers carefully

Because they are the ones for whom you are running your business and therefore they are running your business actually. If nobody would be buying from you how will your business be making money?
Below I mention some important reasons why garnering feedback from customers is very necessary for your business.

Customer feedback lets you better understand how your customers rate and use your products as compared to other competing products. It is very necessary in deciding where your company’s products and services are working properly and where they are failing to cast an impact.

For example if you are in the business of creating crockery then you may find that though your crockery is more durable and solid than a competitor’s but still people are buying from that other company because their crockery is more beautiful.

This feedback will imply that you need to work on the artistic part of your goods.

Know how your staff is

The feedback from customers can let you know how is your staff really operating, how is your staff treating customers. Customer service satisfaction surveys are common for marketing research. You can find out through such surveys whether or not customers are getting what they want. Whether they are getting their questions answered and problems solved. If the customers regularly report that your staff was rude to them then you would know that you need to take some action.

Make your customers feel important

You must be knowing a grandfather in a family whom no one listens to. You know how frustrated he feels? Don’t make your customers feel that way.
By listening to your customers, by asking them for feedback you are showing them some respect. You are telling them you care about what they feel about your business and hence that will make them feel important.
Do note however that if you are garnering feedback from them but are not implementing that in your business, it may cast a negative impression. The customers might feel they are being neglected and not listened to.

Improve constantly

You cannot simply create a system and then sit back and relax while the cash flows in. In order to run a successful business you need to be working on it constantly.
Now of course there are certain parts of your business which have nothing to do with customer feedback but still need to be fixed. For example if your website has a very high load time, you don’t need to wait until you receive a complaint from a customer to rectify the error.
But there could be other parts which might have skipped your attention. Here is where customer’s feedback will play an important role to help you shape and improve your business.
Perhaps a customer had difficulty using the payment option on your website and complained about it. It could be that you didn’t discover the error earlier because it was being faced by people of only a particular country.

I hope you found this article useful. Let me know in the comments below what you think about it. You see I need some customer feedback. 🙂
