Samba Upgrade – April 7

Samba software will be upgraded for win.pass.psu.edu, also known as smb.pass.psu.edu and other aliases, during the ITS Maintenance Window (5:00 – 7:00 a.m.) on Thursday, April 7. The service will be updated from version 3 to version 4.

No outage is expected while the work is being completed.

As a result of the upgrade, a performance increase is expected along with support for newer SMB protocols, 2 and 3. Users may experience a change in service behavior as well.

Users may need to reconnect clients to the service after work has been completed.
